Schav quickly understood the power of lyricism and focused on perfecting his wordplay ability to impress by being witty when he raps. Onlookers were always amazed by his clever metaphors and cadence. Schav was confident that he found his calling and that being an artist was his passion.
In the year 2000 Schav attended George W. Wingate High School in Brooklyn NY where is passion for being an artist peeked. Utilizing his class sessions to work on perfecting is musical craft and school attendance to display his talents to other students he was unable to maintain satisfactory grades as his passion for music overshadowed his ability to focus on school lessons. In the early 2000's Schav was introduced to Aruba Bandit (then Python) by a mutual friend. Schav immediately became a member of the 5th Quarter Records label that grew to consist of Aruba Bandit, DJ Sycho, Bambi, Schav, Dre and Jinx. Collectively they began working on their first studio release entitled "I Got A Story to Tell". This album was independently printed and distributed hand to hand as it made an impact on the island of Aruba and making it into radio rotation. 5th Quarter Records traveled to Aruba and headlined a sold out event after completing promotional interviews in the local newspapers, media platforms, television and radio stations.
Fueled by these events Schav solidified himself as an Hip Hop artist and began to view himself as such while gaining the respect of the peers he was influenced by. Schav advanced his career to professionally recording his music and releasing music on all online streaming platforms as well as online music store outlets. |
About Schav:Jerry Ray Jackson (Born July 13, 1983), better known by his street moniker/stage name Schav. Schav is a Hip Hop Artist, song writer and entrepreneur. Schav has appeared as a feature on various songs from artists locally, others states as well as internationally in additions to being a part of 3 full LP collaborative studio releases.
His music career began in the early 90s influenced by the neighborhood friends and people who displayed their rapping talents in street cyphers. Influenced and encouraged by the guys in the neighborhood Schav began crafting his rapping skills to display in street corner freestyle battles. Schav dropped out of High School and pursued his dreams of becoming an artist while completing GED courses. His focus shifted to professional studio recordings and live performances as he received his GED.
More drawn to Hip Hop Schav discovered muisc and was highly influenced by artists such as Nas, Notorious BIG, Jay-Z, Fabolous and J.Cole. His music became more interpersonal and his ability to paint pictures of reality in music became one of his strongest skillset. He also developed a voice and melody cadence that females are drawn to he raps. His abilty to express himself musically with words attracted the attention of anyone who heard him rap. Schav released 3 studio albums that are currently available on all online music platforms; his solo debut "A Rare Gift" featuring singles "Fast Lyfe Pt 2", "Tonight" and "Final Fantasy". This release includes appearances by Aruba Bandit, DJ Sycho, Faiith, Pizon, RO amongst others.
The second and third releases were collaborative albums entitled "2 the Hard Way" and "2 THW Reloaded" which produced hits such as "Unified", "Hennessy Thoughts", "Not on My Level", "Redrum", "Home Love" and "Elevate". These releases are also on all streaming and online music platforms. Schav is currently working on his follow up solo album entitled "The Vault" scheduled to be released in early 2022. With no intention of slowing down Schav will continue to deliver jaw dropping verses mixed with melodic ballads for his fanbase as he continues on his journey as an Artist. |
